The Facility

One of the major decisions made by the Board of Trustees and members of Word Fountain Christian Ministries was the relocation to its new site at 73 Hollow Way. Cowley in April 2008. Following the decision of the Oxford City Council to demolish the former Cowley Community Centre, Word Fountain faced the risk of 'corporate homelessness'. However, fueled by passion and commitment to its long term goals of serving the community, the decision to seek a multi-purpose building mas made by the Board of Trustees and ratified by members. The major move was facilitated with internally generated funds and passion of members. The former St Dominic Hall which had been out of use for about 7 years was leased and moved into as a two-phase project. The first phase currently has facility for a cafe, office, meeting hall and ample parking space for about 40 cars.

The facility is maintained by members who graciously give their time and skills. It hosts other church and community groups. There is opportunity for further development and refurbishment of the 2nd and larger facility to expand current services and facilitate other projects.

Welcome to Family Arena.

A bit about us. The Family Arena Project is an initiative to combine the strength of the Church (Word Fountain Christian Ministries) and the Local Community in providing a social enterprise/hub for the benefit of the wider community. Family Arena has a Steering Committee made of members of the community, business and councillors.  It also enjoys the support of Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) that provides ongoing project review.More...
